Lakeland woman found guilty in baby's death

LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) -- A Lakeland woman faces life in prison after jurors found her guilty in the starvation death of her 5-month-old daughter.
Jurors deliberated for seven hours Thursday before finding 27-year-old Tivasha Logan guilty of first-degree murder and aggravated manslaughter of a child. A sentencing date has not been set.
The Ledger of Lakeland (http://bit.ly/MBpD1K ) reports Logan and the baby's father, Chauncey Gardner, had watered down the baby's formula and she wasn't getting sufficient nutrition to survive. Twenty-nine-year-old Gardner faces first-degree murder and other charges. He is being held in the Polk County Jail.
Officials say Chauntasia should have weighed about 14 pounds, but was just 6 pounds when she died.
She was found dead Nov. 1, 2009.
Logan's attorney told jurors his client never intended to harm the child.
