Elderly man loses leg after SUV hits him

HIALEAH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A pedestrian walked into the path of danger and wound up in the hospital.

Hialeah Police said a truck hit a car and then a man walking on the sidewalk, Saturday.

That man lost his leg on the scene at West 49th Street and 18th Court in Hialeah. "I saw the red truck hit the SUV and then kept going straight and hit this man that was standing at that pole right there," said David Erazr, a witness. "He tried to move out the way but he had no chance because the truck was going to fast."

Police said those involved in the accident are cooperating in the investigation.

The victim, an elderly man, is in critical condition.
