Dog shot by police

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (WSVN) -- A police officer was forced to fire after being bitten by a dog.

The encounter happened along Northwest 19th Drive and 86th Way, Saturday night.

The officer was taken to a local hospital but is expected to be fine.

The dog was transported to an animal hospital but it's condition remains unknown.
