Suspect shot by South Florida police

HIALEAH, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say South Florida police officers shot a man who stole a work van and then rammed a patrol car.
Hialeah police say officers used a tracking device to find the stolen van, along with 41-year old Angel Soto, Monday morning.
As officers were surrounding the area, police say Soto tried to drive away, crashing into a patrol car and injuring an officer. Police opened fire as Soto drove away. Wounded, Soto only made it a couple blocks before pulling over and surrendering.
Soto was taken to a Miami hospital for treatment. He is being charged with vehicle theft and attempted murder of a police officer.
A local newspaper reports that a female passenger in the van with Soto was taken into custody, but she wasn't immediately charged.
