Jury selection begins in teen beating case

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Jury selection is underway in the case of a South Florida teen who is accused of a brutal attack.

The jury selection began Tuesday in a Fort Lauderdale courtroom for the case against Wayne Treacy.

Treacy faces charges of attempted murder after knocking Josie Lou Ratley to the ground and stomping on her head outside Deerfield Beach Middle School back in 2010.

Ratley suffered severe brain damage.

Opening statements are set for July 10.
