Home invasion robber arrested after tying up brothers

DAVIE, Fla. (WSVN) -- An alert neighbor sprang into action after a burglar broke into a home and tied up two young brothers inside.
Fifteen-year-old Wesley Chau and his 12-year-old brother Kelvin were home alone on Wednesday while their parents were at work.
The Chau brothers were taking a nap when someone broke into their Davie home.
The two awoke and saw the burglar inside their home. The crook was apparently startled and found some plastic tubing inside the home, which he used to tie up the boys. "I thought if you show them you're scared, he'd have the upper hand in the situation," said Wesley, "and so I just kept self-control in the whole thing. I wasn't too nervous about it."
Meanwhile, a neighbor noticed a strange vehicle in front of the Chau family's home and went over to check on things. The home invader sent one of the boys to the door to inform the neighbor that everything was fine. Instead, the victim mouthed to the neighbor that their home was being robbed.
That neighbor called police, and the suspect fled in his vehicle. The neighbor wrote down the robber's license plate number, and he was later arrested at his Miami home. "If the neighbor didn't come," Kelvin said, "he could have taken more [things] or taken our lives."
The Chau brothers said they are somewhat glad the thief came to their home because they are a bit older than their neighbors' children.
