Students' personal documents discovered in trash
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Sensitive documents from a South Florida high school were discovered in the trash.
Volunteers at Northwestern Senior High discovered the piles of folders in the trash, containing student records filled with social security numbers, health records and grades.
The items should have been delivered to the district's central warehouse for proper disposal.
7News reached out to a representative at Miami-Dade Schools, who said: "A communication lapse led to these items being deposited in a dumpster. Fortunately, the records and other items were recovered and can now be dealt with properly."
District administrators have been notified and are investigating the matter.
