WEST PARK, Fla. (WSVN) -- A family is OK after a huge oak tree broke and fell down on top of their home.

Raymond Roosevelt was in the kitchen of his West Park home Tuesday morning when he heard a slow, cracking sound.

Roosevelt looked out of the kitchen window and witnessed the oak tree outside the home come crashing down on top of the residence.

The tree was coming down slow enough for Roosevelt to dash into another room and grab his children. "I heard the noise outside, and when I looked out the window, I saw the tree coming down to the roof, and I just ran to my kids' room and grabbed them and went out," he said.

The family managed to get out of the home safely.

Roosevelt believes the tree is about 50 years old.

Insurance company employees and landscapers who came out to the house said it is not safe for the family to remain at the residence. Therefore, the Roosevelt family is not staying at the home, as they are unsure if the tree will come down any further.

The family was not injured.
