Jungle Island expansion on hold

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A plan to expand a South Florida attraction has been placed on hold.
Jungle Island has opted not to go forward with plans for a major expansion despite telling Miami commissioners it was necessary for the park to get out of the red.
The park has been unable to make a $2 million payment on a $15 million federal loan.
The park released a statement saying, "Jungle Island has made the decision to put its expansion plans on hold and reconsider our options for the future at this time. We plan to continue to meet obligations and will continue to be one of the icons for the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County."
