New beach facilities at Homestead Bayfront Park

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (AP) -- New beach facilities at Homestead Bayfront Park in South Florida will include a restaurant and concessions building, a kids play area and beach volleyball court.
The new facilities will be celebrated Friday during a ceremony with Miami-Dade officials.
The improvements include a new building with lifeguard headquarters, a grill restaurant and concession area with a screened-in dining area and a walk-around balcony for outdoor eating.
Park visitors will also have a new sand box where kids can play archaeologist and dig up dinosaur bones and fossils, a sand volleyball court and other upgrades.
County officials say the cost of the development was $4.75 million.
The 97-acre beachfront park also has a fishing area and is home to the Herbert Hoover Marina.
