FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A former Broward Teachers Union president alleged to have mismanaged union funds has been released from jail after posting bail.

Pat Santeramo posted his $480,000 bond Friday.

Santeramo is accused stealing nearly $300,000 from the teachers' union during the past five years.

His bond was set at $480,000, but his attorneys had to prove to the judge that his client's funds were clean and not composed of any of the alleged stolen money.

If convicted, Santeramo could face 30 years in prison.
