Elderly hit and run victim goes into surgery

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A 70-year-old man left for dead by a hit and run driver earlier this week is undergoing surgery.
The victim's daughter said she is devastated this happened to her father, Charlie Frank Kimball, who is now at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Later Wednesday afternoon, she plans to make a plea for the person responsible to surrender to police.
Police have released surveillance video of the blue or purple Ford Taurus believed to hold the driver responsible. "The vehicle that struck the subject, we have video of what happened after, which was the vehicle leaving," said Miami Police Sgt. Luis Taborda.
Police are still searching for that car, which struck Kimball at Northwest 20th Street and Seventh Avenue, at around 9:15 p.m. Monday.
Several surveillance cameras on a University of Miami building caught the car rounding a corner and fleeing. Authorities said they have a witness statement, as well video and snapshots of the car from two different angles. "So this guy is going to get caught," said Taborda. "Come forward, turn yourself in before it gets worse than it already is."
