School official: No political events on school property

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. (WSVN) -- A school board member is seeking to prohibit the use of public schools as a platform for political events.

Renier Diaz De La Portilla to is seeking to change school board policy after the first lady tried to recruit Obama campaign volunteers at Barbara Goleman Senior High last week.

Diaz De La Portilla hopes to prohibit political events from taking place in the district's public schools.
