Police searching for person of interest in rape

WEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Authorities are looking for a person of interest in a sexual assault that took place last week.

Miami-Dade Police detectives released surveillance photos of the person of interest Monday in hopes that he will come forward and speak with them.

Police said the rape occurred last Sunday morning at around 5 a.m.

The 45-year-old victim said the suspect followed her after she left Ilusiones Supper Club along Southwest 127th Avenue and Eighth Street, then robbed and sexually assaulted her near Northwest 99th Avenue and 10th Street in Miami.

The person of interest is described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s. He stands about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. He has short, black, curly hair and a tattoo on his left forearm.

He may work in the fitness industry.
