NEW YORK (WSVN) -- A Big Apple blitz is less than a day away.

Tourism officials are selling South Florida to New Yorkers like no one else can.

Part of Manhattan will throw a pool party, starting Tuesday, South Florida style. It's an aggressive move to get New Yorkers to spend their time and money in the 305.

It's the hot new marketing campaign being launched by the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, and it's poised to take New York City by storm. Bill Talbert president & CEO of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau said, "It fits whether it's your lifestyle, whether your old or young or families, in the arts, sports, eco."

And people all over the world know what that means. "Oh, clearly Miami is one of the top global brands in the world today," Talbert said.

On a billboard outside Macy's Department Store in Herald Square there's now a giant invitation for all New Yorkers to attend the mother of all pool parties hosted by the 305.

Since we're famous all over the world for our outrageous pool parties, Miami's importing the splash to New York City by building a pool in the middle of Manhattan's Union Square, compete with palm trees, a DJ booth, bars and VIP lounge chairs.

The one-day blow out to promote tourism in Miami starts this Tuesday afternoon. Seven's very own Louis Aguirre will bring us a live report right here on 7News at 6.
