Police: Serial restaurant robbers at large

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are searching for three suspects who robbed a South Florida restaurant and may be responsible for a similar robbery.
According to Hollywood Police, the latest robbery happened on July 18, at around 10:40 p.m. Police said, three men robbed a McDonald's located on the 5800 block of Hollywood Boulevard. Police said one of the suspects had a gun and another a knife.
Police said the three men moved very quickly, even dropping some cash when they fled the scene. According to the restaurant's manager they knew the layout of the office as well as technical terms that only employees are familiar with when it comes to deposits.
Authorities said the robbers took cash drawers and emptied both safes. "It was late in the evening, and unknown how much was in the safe, but there was a few days' worth of sales," said Hollywood Police Sergeant Pablo Vanegas. "Detectives are looking at all angles to make sure that it was not a former employee or someone that knows the whereabouts because of the circumstances of the robbery."
Police think this is the second armed robbery of a McDonald's by these men. A similar robbery occurred at a McDonald's located at 1352 E. Commercial Boulevard in Oalkland Park, on June 23. The crooks were also armed and looted the safe and cash drawers at a peak time, for maximum profit.
If you have any information on either of these robberies, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
