Firefighter arrested, charged with extortion
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida firefighter has been arrested after allegedly attempting to commit extortion.
Authorities have charged Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue firefighter Steven Loleski with extortion. The 35-year old is accused of getting his hands on a tape of a conversation between another member of the fire department and their bargaining union president.
According to authorities, Loleski then allegedly threatened them with it and tried to get them to give up information on another investigation.
Loleski has been charged with one count of threats/extortion and one count of solicitation to commit or use of confidential criminal justice information.
