MIAMI (WSVN) -- Officials have relieved a dog from its guard duty on the roof a business after a compromise to increase patrols in the area.

Burro the roof dog was brought down from a warehouse's roof, located on 1201 NW 23rd St. on Friday.

Sky Force HD hovered over the building as the dog took cover in his doghouse with food and water beside him.

Jose Cabrera from G&G Produce said they brought Burro to the roof a few months ago after crooks ripped off the copper from the roof. "We take very good care of the dog. He has food, water, shelter the whole nine yards, so I have no idea why this has become such a big deal," said Cabrera.

It became a big deal when riders of the Metrorail looked out their window as they passed by the dog. The Metro riders then called the city. "Before the dog, we spent over 20 grand in assessments for the coolers, fans," said Cabrera.

Animal Control has checked on the dog several times and each time finding him well cared for.

G&G struck a deal with police and decided to bring burro down. Police said they would increase patrols in the area. "We're going to put the dog downstairs from now on. He's not going to go back on the roof or nothing like that," said Cabrera.
