Truck hangs off highway overpass

MIAMI (WSVN) -- Crews rescued the driver of  a work truck after it collided with two other vehicles and was left hanging over the edge of an overpass.

Around 3:15 p.m. Thursday, the truck and several other vehicles were involved in an accident on the Dolphin Expressway. One of the cars made a hard right turn, went over the retaining wall and sheared off the front tires of the truck, which fell down about 18 feet below.

Crews shut down two lanes of the westbound State Road 836 at 45th Avenue, as the Florida Highway Patrol waited for a wrecker to remove the truck from the scene.

The closure backed up traffic for hours during the evening commute.

The truck driver is doing OK.
