Home burglars caught on security camera

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (WSVN) -- A homeowner is seeking the public's help to catch the crooks responsible for burglarizing his home.

"At approximately 9:45 p.m., at least four subjects burglarized the victim's home," Miami Shores Police Detective Kerry Turner said. "The incident was captured on the victim's surveillance video ... You see at least one subject approach the front door and that subject knocks on the door."

That suspect can be seen wearing a light-colored, hooded sweatshirt and a backpack. After he realized no one was inside the Miami Shores residence, he was quickly joined by several other suspects. They gained entry into the home through a side window.

The victim, Naser Othmar, installed a security camera near one of the doors of his home. Police believe the bandits saw that camera, but they did not care and proceeded to rob the home.

The thieves stole valuable jewelry, cash and pricey electronics. "They stole three plasma TVs, the iPhone, money. They took everything," Othmar said. "Everything's safe, everything's good, but now with the situation, I don't know what's going on."

Othmar and his wife work long hours at the business they own. They believe the thieves disconnected their home alarm system during the burglary.

The crime occurred in an otherwise quiet neighborhood, and now Miami Shores Police want the bandits responsible off the streets before they rob someone else. Turner said, "We want to get these guys into custody because it could happen to some other folks here in Shores, so we want to try and prevent that."
