BAL HARBOUR, Fla. (WSVN) -- Bal Harbour Police have released surveillance video of a shooting at the Bal Harbour Shops last year.

A crowded, peaceful restaurant turned to chaos after gunfire erupted inside last March. "At some point the black male suspect takes out a glock pistol and our victim runs back towards the restaurant, suspect gives chase and fires one shot, hitting our victim," said Bal Harbour Police Captain Greg Roy.

The surveillance video shows the two men, gunfire and then patrons scatter. The victim did survive the shooting.

Police were unable to make an arrest. During the course of their investigation, there was a case of mistaken identity when a man was taken into custody but it turned out, he wasn't their suspect. "We had a couple witnesses give misidentification, so the case kind of didn't go anywhere for a while," said Roy.

Police said the case is now closed. "We did develop a suspect through our investigation and that suspect later passed away in an automobile accident, unrelated to our investigation," said Roy.
