Sentence set for Fla. man in Obama Facebook threat

MIAMI (AP) -- A South Florida man concedes it was a stupid thing to do. But now 20-year-old Joaquin Serrapio Jr. faces sentencing in federal court for threating President Barack Obama on Facebook.

Serrapio told the president in an apology letter his actions were "childishly stupid" but he didn't think anyone would take him seriously. His attorney is hoping for probation and house arrest Wednesday after Serrapio pleaded guilty in May to threatening to kill or harm the president.

One post threatened to put a bullet in the president's head. Another asked for help with a presidential assassination. The threats were posted in February to coincide with a speech Obama gave at the University of Miami.

There's no indication Serrapio intended to take violent action and he says he meant no harm.
