Dump truck collides with car, catches fire

DAVIE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Crews extinguished a dump truck that caught fire after colliding with a civilian's car Friday morning.

The accident occurred at about 9 a.m. in the westbound lanes on Interstate 595, just west of Interstate 95 and State Road 7. A 7News viewer sent in a photo of the front of the dump truck on fire and flames shooting out of the cab.

The driver of the dump truck escaped safely.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue crews transported a female passenger who was in the car to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

All westbound lanes remain closed as crews clean up the mess.
