Police investigate death of pedestrian

MIAMI (WSVN) -- Police are investigating the death of a man who was found laying in the street Wednesday morning.

At about 7 a.m., police arrived at Northeast 79th Street and Northeast Second Avenue to find the man's body in the middle of the road. Accordinng to police, a man in an electric wheelchair was struck by a van and died on scene.

Investigators said the driver stayed on scene and is cooperating with police.

The street has since been shutdown from Northeast Second Avenue to Biscayne Boulevard, as police continue their investigation.
