Crews try to control mosquitoes after TS Isaac

LAUDERHILL, Fla. (WSVN) -- Officials across South Florida are stepping up their efforts in the fight against mosquitos.
Neighborhoods across South Florida were swamped after Tropical Storm Isaac dumped tons of rain. Days later, there are still giant puddles. Mosquito experts said this offers the perfect breeding ground for the bugs. "Isaac brought a lot of flooding to Broward County and all of the county," said Broward Public Works employee Joe Marhefka.
Mosquito control crews are all over the region this week testing stagnant water and are spraying down the entire area if larva is found.
Officials said residents can help by dumping any still or stagnant water out of their yards. The hope is to knock out the bug before it's old enough to fly.
