PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police have released the 911 calls a South Florida man made after he was shot for his gold chain.

Sixty-six-year-old Nick Dragone was trimming branches in his front yard when two young men approached him, Tuesday morning.

Dragone said, while he was in his front yard, two teens approached him and demanded his gold chain. Dragone refused to give up his chain and used his clippers to keep the teens away.

The teens backed off but one of them pulled a gun and fired. Police said Dragone was hit by three bullets, but the Vietnam Vet was conscious and alert and called 911 himself.

911 Dispatcher: "Where are you shot?"

Dragone: "I'm shot in the stomach and on the side."

911 Dispatcher: "Where are you? Inside of a house?"

Dragone: "I'm outside, in the front looking for them. I'm bleeding all over bad."

911 Dispatcher: "OK, stay still. Where are you right now, so the rescue can find you?"

Dragone: "I'm right out front in my drive way."

Dragone has since been released from the hospital. The two suspects remain at large, however. Police believe they left the scene in a red Chevy Malibu.

If you have any information on the two teen robbers, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
