MIRAMAR, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are searching for at least two suspects who robbed a South Florida store.

According to police, at around 10 a.m., the owner of Sam's West Indian Products, located at 3156 South University Drive, was opening his store when two men, one who was armed with a gun, barged in and demanded money.

Police said the owner of the store was attacked by the men before he managed to fire at the suspects. Miramar Police spokeswoman Tania Rues said, " Basically they approached him and demanded money. He fought with one of the individuals. In the end, the store owner pulled out a firearm and shot multiple times at this one suspect. We do know that he was hit at least once, and they both fled running westbound into a vehicle. So, we do believe that there is a possibility that three individuals are involved."

Linda Butler who frequents the store said, "They doing what they have to do, it's ridiculous. People trying to make an honest living and then they turn around and people trying to rob them, of course they have all rights to protect their self and do what they had to do."

Police believe the suspects to be two black males that are about 5 feet 6 inches. The suspects fled the area in a newer model burgundy Cadillac CTS with a spare tire sitting in the front passenger seat.

If you have any information on these robbery suspects, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
