Woman struck and killed; police search for driver

DAVIE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who struck and killed an elderly woman on the road.

According to police, the 86-year-old woman was walking through a gated mobile home park located on Southwest 33rd Street and 53rd Avenue in Davie, when the driver of a car hit her and sped off.

Paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The woman's son is sending a message to the person behind the wheel. "If you have any kind of conscience or heart you took away the only person I have left besides my daughter, my fiancee and my grandchildren. Please just come forward," said Joseph Chiero

Police said they don't know what kind of car they're looking for because there were no witnesses.
