Employee attacked during another armed robbery

MIRAMAR, Fla. (WSVN) -- Authorities are investigating another armed robbery in Miramar.
According to police, at around 10 a.m. Tuesday, two armed men pistol-whipped a 22-year-old male employee. The robbery took place at the Wendy's located at 3750 Utopia Drive.
The victim's grandmother, Reverend Vernay Johnson, said her grandson was shaken when he called her. "He said, 'Grandma, get to Wendy's,' and he was crying. He sounded hysterical, so I didn't know if he was shot or what was going on. He leaves early in the morning, and he loves working early because he has the rest of his day."
The suspects are both males and one is described as heavy set while the other is thin.
On Monday, just five blocks away, at Sam's West Indian Products, located at 3156 South University Drive, two armed men attacked the store owner. The owner was able to fight back and fired several shots. Detectives are not sure if the blood found on the scene was due to one of the suspects being shot or from broken glass.
Detectives said, in Monday's robbery, the two suspects fled the scene in a newer model burgundy Cadillac CTS with possibly a third person at the wheel. The right front wheel had a spare tire on at the time of the robbery, police said.
Police are working to see if these robberies are connected. If you have any information on these robberies, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
