Family man shot dead at home

NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- One community's sense of security has been shattered by a deadly shooting.
The victim, according to the family, was 29-year-old Yonel Gonzalez, a husband and father of three young children. According to Miami-Dade Police, he was gunned down right inside his home, on the 18000 block of NW 74th Court, shortly before 11 p.m., Monday.
Police found the body of Gonzalez in the parking lot of the condo where Gonzalez lived with his wife and children. The wife and children were up on the second floor of the home when, police said, someone entered the home and shot Gonzalez, before fleeing the scene. "It's a scary situation because no one really knows what happened," said a neighbor.
Several police detectives were on the scene well into the night. However, police have little information in the search for the shooter or shooters. One neighbor said he heard several gunshots. "I think I heard three," David Savdre said, "but then I wasn't sure if it was gunshots, but then I heard five of them."
Ramon Cierian, a neighbor, said, "He's nice. I'm here for a year-and-a-half or two, and he usually says, 'Hello, hello!'"
"He's a very, very nice guy," added Savdre. "Like, he seemed nice. He said, 'Hi,' and stuff like that."
Laura Tavera, another neighbor said, nothing like this has ever occurred in the neighborhood. "Shocking," she said. "You're living in an area where it's safe and sound, and then all of a sudden, you're like 'Wow!' It really could have happened to anybody. It could have happened to my mom."
Police continue to investigate, and if you have any information that might help, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
