Miami Beach officer arrested
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A Miami Beach police officer caught up in an alleged corruption probe is behind bars Thursday.
Officer George Navarro Jr. is facing charges of racketeering and fraud.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading this case. The arrest warrant has not yet been made public. Details behind Navarro Jr.'s arrest are expected to be released this afternoon.
Navarro Jr., 26, was in court Thursday morning where he was given a $152,000 bond.
Navarro Jr. is the son of former Miami Beach Police Commander George Navarro. He gained fame because he was the lead supervisor on the 1997 Gianni Versace murder investigation. Navarro is now the city emergency manager.
