New surveillance video in garage collapse

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Officials have released new video after a courthouse parking garage collapsed.
Surveillance cameras that were mounted on the Broward County Courthouse captured the whole collapse of the four-story parking garage when it collapsed in just seconds. "Just went like a wave from one end through the whole parking structure," said witness Nancy Wiener.
After a cloud of dust came up after the rubble came down, a parking attendant pulled out his cell phone and shot the garage collapse from the southeast side. "The whole thing fell. Something went wrong," said a viewer who recorded home video footage.
Vice President for James Cummings Contractors Geoff Bunnell said this is a first for him. "Nothing like this has happened before," said Bunnell.
A 7News viewer also sent a video capturing the four-story as it crumbled. "As soon as it came down, just a cloud of dust. You couldn't actually see," said Wille Banks.
"They'd cut out the east side, started horse-shoeing in. The elevator shaft they were working on apparently fell unexpectedly," said Fort Lauderdale Fire Department Deputy Chief Tim Blank
The demolition work is to gradually clear the space for a new courthouse. That was the idea, until Wednesday's unexpected mishap shaved weeks off the project without warning.
All 25 men working on the demolition cleared out on time, and no injuries were reported. "Luckily, no one was inside. That's why they're safe. If crews were inside, it would have been a different story," said Blank.
