HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WSVN) -- Authorities are investigating a police-involved shooting that injured one subject.

The shooting happened Friday night when investigators said an officer was forced to fire after pulling over a car with two people inside. The gunshots rang out in a neighborhood near South Ocean Drive and Sixth Street.

"Well, when I first heard the shots, I thought they were kids just shooting out fireworks," said an unidentified witness. "When I came outside, and I saw the guy laying on the ground and moaning, I knew it was more than just kids shooting fireworks. From what I seen up in the balcony, he was pretty bloodied up, but I don't know, really I couldn't get a closer look."

Police said they believe the two people were involved in an armed robbery at a Dania Beach convenience store, just hours before.

One of them was rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
