Man arrested after assaulting firefighters

MIAMI (WSVN) -- Two firefighters has been hospitalized after one was allegedly struck with a car and another was punched in the face by a business owner who was shut down for code violations.
The incident occurred in Little Havana, late Friday afternoon. Two firefighters arrived at a small market at 971 W. Flagler St. to close it.
According to police, the building has holes on the roof, electrical wires handing and pipes exposed. City officials had enough evidence to close down the business.
As the firefighters were talking to the wife, who co-owns the business with her husband, that husband deliberately clipped one of the firefighters.
The husband then got out of the car and punched the other firefighter. The man accused said while sitting inside the police car, "For what, I didn’t do nothing why would I be sorry for?".
Police arrived on the scene soon after and he was taken to jail.
The fire department identified the injured firefighter as Johnny Suarez, a father of four children. He is a seven-year veteran of the department.
Suarez was transported to Mercy Hospital and suffered only minor injuries.
The other firefighter’s condition is unknown.
The suspect faces multiple charges.
