Students hold tribute show for sick band teacher

PINECREST, Fla. (WSVN) -- A beloved South Florida teacher received a touching tribute.

Students at Miami Palmetto Senior High School honored their cancer-stricken band teacher, Paul Smith, with a one-hour concert Thursday night.

Smith is battling stage four cancer. "I wasn't sure I was always gonna be able to attend because some days I don't feel that well," Smith said, "but I've been having some great days, and I was really happy that they put this together. It's just an awesome tribute."

Smith has been a music teacher for 17 years and is also very involved with the Boy Scouts. Many of his former students and members of the Boy Scouts performed in the concert.
