HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WSVN) -- Residents are upset after their vehicles were vandalized in their gated community for the second time since July.

According to residents, about a dozen vehicles were vandalized late Sunday night at the Crystal Lakes Apartments, located at 2900 N 24th Ave.

Residents said they woke up to find their cars vandalized, windows smashed and items stolen. The thieves targeted one car after another and left expensive repairs behind for the cars' owners. "I have a BMW; it's probably over $300 in damage," Jean Senatus said.

Nancy Charry's car was also vandalized. She said, "We don't have the money, and nobody is going to fix the damage."

Justine Dumercy noted that the greed of these crooks showed no bounds. "We had two GPS systems, and they took both of them. We had some candy, I guess they were hungry, they took the candy out."

Many people were unable to make it work, and some parents could not take their kids to school. "This morning we couldn't even take our kids to school," added Dumercy, "and I can't even go to work."

Management said they have requested a greater police presence and an increase in number of hours the security guard is on the premises.

If you have any information on this crime spree, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
