MIAMI (WSVN) -- Police are searching for a crook after a trip to the gas station ended on a sour note for a South Florida musician.

Evan Lamb said he left his van running at the BP gas station on Coral Way and Southwest 23rd Avenue while he was buying coolant. Lamb said, someone hopped in his van and took off while he was in the store.

Lamb said he had tens of thousands of dollars worth of audio equipment inside the van. "This is terrible. This is my whole livelihood. There's equipment in there that I've been saving 20 years for. I'm a musician, that was all of my gear. I have one guitar at home. That's it," he said.

The victim said he tried to grab the window as the thief took off in his van, but it was too late.

Fellow local musicians are holding a benefit concert to help Lamb replace some of his equipment. For more information visit the link above.
