Stray bullet hits woman at home

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. (WSVN) -- A Lauderdale Lakes woman was injured by a stray bullet that traveled to her home from a nightclub nearby.
According to police, the shooting happened around 5:15 a.m., Tuesday. Police said a fight broke out outside the night club Xtacy Cafe located across the street from the injured woman's apartment when someone opened fire. "I heard there was a shooting across the street, and the bullet came across. It's lodged in her knee cap," said the victim's son, Kemal Price.
The bullet traveled to the second floor and into the woman's front door after striking her. The victim was standing in front of her apartment, in the balcony when she was hit. "I just heard my mom screaming, she got shot, she got shot, and I went and looked and there was a bullet in her leg," said Price. The bullet was lodged in the woman's kneecap.
Price said his mother is has been left shaken up. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition. Doctors were able to remove the bullet from her knee and in a few days she should be released from the hospital.
