Woman: Son-in-law shot in attempted robbery

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida man is recovering in the hospital after being shot in what relatives are calling an attempted robbery.
The shooting happened Wednesday night outside a home on Northwest 203rd Street and 33rd Avenue. Family members said subjects tried to steal a man's car or may have also been trying to break into the home.
The homeowner, who was armed, exited the home to investigate some noise. When he came outside, gunshots were exchanged, leaving the homeowner wounded. The home and cars were also left shot up by bullets.
The victim's mother-in-law, who lives in the home, said there have been multiple robberies in the area in the past, and this shooting has her concerned. "Safety, security, I'm worrying about my kids, my grandkids, my son-in-law got shot, his car got shot up, my car got shot up," she said, too afraid to show her face. "And we were in the house, just watching TV."
Rescue crews transported the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. Relatives said the man's gunshot wound tore an artery and broke a bone.
Relatives and friends were upset that people would go to such lengths to steal their hard-earned property. "It's just stupid," said the victim's Cousin, who also did not want her face on camera. "Why would you steal from somebody who worked so hard for their car? You can just work hard for yours too. That's just being pure lazy."
If you have any information on this shooting, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
