Dog tossed out of car finds new home

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A dog who was tossed out of a moving vehicle now has a loving family.

Scrappy has a horrible back story. Fortunately, Richard Powers was there to save his life. "I was getting ready to exit Interstate 95 on Stirling Road, and a guy in a Toyota truck threw a black bag out the window," said Powers.

Scrappy was thrown out of a moving car in a black bag last week. Powers saw it all unfold and immediately took the dog to a pet hospital to be checked out. "Scrappy came in very, very scared. Very unsure of everybody. He had a lot of hair missing," said Family Pet Medical Center's Dr. Sharon Glass.

"I'm a dog lover myself," said Powers. "I have four dogs. I couldn't just leave him there."

Scrappy now has a new home and a family to love him. Lisa Pezullo saw Scrappy's story on TV and knew she had to adopt him. "I felt so bad for him. I just thought I'd be the one that could give him a good home," said Pezzullo.

Pezzullo has other rescue dogs at home. "It's crazy what people do to them, but I'm home all day, so he can have the best of everything," said Pezzullo.

Dr. Glass is happy someone was able to adopt the loving dog. "It's really nice to see him come around and start to trust people again after what happened to him," she said.

The person who threw Scrappy out the window still has not been caught.
