NORTH BAY VILLAGE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida community is on alert after a pair of thieves burglarized several homes and took off on a boat.

North Bay Village Police believe two boaters pulled up to water front homes off of Miami View Drive Thursday morning, and broke into two homes and tried to get into a third.

Detectives said an alarm went off in one home. When they arrived on the scene, they found the sea wall wet. "It look like probably the boat approached to the sea wall and someone got off maybe they were all ready wet and they had gone into the water prior to stepping off the boat,"

Police said the pair robbed the homes and put the items on the boat. They said a witness saw the crooks take off.

Russell Mofsky who lives across the street from the bay said he arrived to his home and everything was gone. "What ever happened, happened fast," said Mofsky.

Police handed out flyers Friday afternoon to alert residents about the resent burglaries.

Police believe one man was wearing a white shirt, and the other was wearing a read shirt.

Police are investigating.
