NORTHEAST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- An ATV ride ended with a deadly crash for a man riding on the street with his friends.

The victim's sister collapsed into a car, wailing inconsolable tears. Her brother's ATV flipped over on the street after it smashed into a purple minivan. "I just got a phone call to my cellphone that he was hit," said Charlene Vigne, "and I just rushed over here."

Police said Jessr Petithome was speeding north on Northeast Sixth Avenue on a four-wheeler at about 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, when a purple minivan tried to cross into a Walgreen's parking lot.

Police said the victim went through the passenger side and flipped on to the pavement. Part of his bike was lodged into the the side window of the minivan.

Hundreds nearby heard the deadly impact and ran towards the victim from every direction. By the time medical teams reached the victim, he was dead. "He was loved," said Tatiana Moise. "From this incident right here, we are all hurt. All of us are hurt."

The driver of the minivan, Benjamin Brooks, walked away unharmed. Hours later, police towed the broken ATV not far from where the victim lived.

Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Petithome died surrounded by crowds mourning and adoring him.

The driver of the minivan will not be cited at fault for this accident because they said the victim was speeding.
