Police arrest man accused of killing mother

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A man accused of killing a South Florida mother of five is behind bars.

Ansel Smart faced a judge Saturday. He stands charged with the murder of 25-year-old Lakisha Lampley.

The victim was inside a car with friends when police said another vehicle pulled up and people inside began shooting.

Lampley was shot in the chest while her younger sister sat on her lap. "It's hard," said the victim's mother, Mary Lampley. "I'm glad they caught him, but it's hard for me because she's gone. I can't forget about that. I'm glad they caught him, that's all I can say. I've cried too much."

The group had just left a nightclub along Northwest 35th Street and 35th Avenue in the Allapatah neighborhood when Lampley was shot.
