Crooks disguised as FPL workers rob home

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are investigating a home invasion robbery committed by two men posing as FPL workers.

According to Miami-Dade Police, the men tied up a homeowner and took an undisclosed amount of money and jewelry from the home on 142nd Place and Southwest 100th Lane, sometime just before 1 p.m., Tuesday.

Police said the two men were wearing FPL polo shirts and introduced themselves as FPL workers before overtaking the homeowner.

According to FPL, all FPL employees have ID and their contractors will have a badge or a work order letter. FPL sets up visits ahead of time, in most cases. Customers can call FPL if they are concerned that someone is impersonating a worker. Customers can visit www.fpl.com/fplprotect for more information.
