SOUTH BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Miami's famed Joe's Stone Crab restaurant has reopened for the season.

On Thursday, the South Beach staple celebrated its 100th anniversary. The restaurant is planning an event in January to officially mark the big anniversary. "It's the 100th year, to be celebrated and culminating October 2013, but this is like the first day of it," said owner Stephen Sawitz. "The beginning of a celebration of 100 seasons."

The fine dining establishment is located on First Street and Washington Avenue. Dozens gathered for the opening. "We've grown up with Joe's, it's part of our life, and that's why we're here the first night it opens," said one attendee.

The restaurant officially opens on Oct. 16. "Coming with family and friends is great, or a loved one," said Sawitz.
