Residents forced out by fire

DANIA BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- An early-morning apartment fire forced several residents to evacuate their homes, Thursday.
The blaze broke out around 6 a.m. at the apartment complex located at 80 SW 8th Ave. "Big cloud of smoke, you couldn't really see nothing," said Oray Rahmings.
Officials said the fire started in a second floor unit. Residents were quickly evacuated.
One resident described the chaotic scene. "The fire was coming towards me, and the fire was busting out of the windows and everything, so I ran down to [another] apartment, knocked on her door, and that's when she started knocking and banging on everybody's door," said Leantra Calvert, "and the fire was just exploding and coming out, and blowing up the door and everything."
Broward Sheriff's Office Fire Rescue managed to put out the fire before it could char another apartment. However, several other units did receive smoke and water damage.
No one was injured in the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
