2 hospitalized after house fire

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) -- A couple has been hospitalized after a fire broke out in their South Florida home.

Fire rescue responded to a house fire in the area of 1410 NW 199 St. in Miami Gardens, Thursday night.

According to reports, the fire started in the bedroom. The husband escaped the fire through the back door. His wife attempted to get outside through the front door, but the door was locked.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the woman unconscious by the door.

The couple was transported to an area hospital.

The woman is listed in critical conditions, but the man's condition remains unknown.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
