DORAL, Fla. (WSVN) -- Several hundred people gathered at J.C. Bermudez Park Saturday night for an event to support the Aguilar family.

At times inconsolable, Christian Aguilar's relatives in South Florida, lead a walk at J.C. Bermudez Park in Doral. Nearly 200 of Christian's friends and Aguilar family supporters followed.

Christian's uncle, reflected on the latest news of a body discovered in the woods near Gainesville. "I'm just waiting on the confirmation from my brother," said Diego Aguilar, "to let me know what's the deal with that, if the body that was found was Christian."

The news was accompanied by mixed feelings of grief and relief as candles were lit. Christian's grandfather led a prayer asking for forgiveness for his grandson's accused killer, Pedro Bravo, and support for the Bravo family. "We have to forgive him," said Natalie Ramos. "Because, you know, it's not about hating him, it's not about feeling bad for him. It's about forgiveness, and that's what I think Chris would've wanted for Pedro, forgiveness."

Earlier Saturday, Aguilar family neighbors heard the latest news and wished the Aguilar's peace. "It's terrible news regardless," said Jose Diaz, "but at least they have this sense of closure that they found their son, the body. It's terrible overall."

While the immediate family waits in Gainesville for the body to be identified, loved ones in South Florida continue their support. They've sold T-shirts and snacks to raise money for the Aguilars and have come together in spiritual support. "They need so much help right now," said Stephanie Rincon. "They need so much love and devotion. It's so important right now. Maybe they did find an answer, maybe not, but we can't give up. Not til the very end."

The money raised at the walk and vigil Saturday night will go directly to the Aguilar family.
