8-foot alligator captured in neighborhood

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- An 8-foot alligator found roaming in a South Florida neighborhood has been captured by authorities.

Residents notified police Monday at about 3 a.m. after the reptile was spotted in someone's driveway. Officials then followed the alligator towards a field along Southwest 212th Street and 117th Court.

Officers used their cruisers to block the alligator's path and remained on scene until an animal trapper arrived to catch the alligator.

Due to its large size, it will most likely need to be put down.
