1 arrested after police pursuit

WEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police said a South Florida man has been arrested after, they said, the armed carjacker led them on a pursuit.

The chase happened Tuesday, just before 7 p.m. on the Palmetto Expressway. Police said they spotted the stolen vehicle driven by the subject and attempted to stop it. That is when the subject fled, leading police on a pursuit.

The pursuit ended in a multi-car crash on the expressway, near Northwest 14th Street. The subject bailed out of the vehicle on foot and and a perimeter was established immediately.

Soon after, police, K-9 units and a chopper arrived on scene and located the subject.

Crews transported the subject to Kendall Regional hospital with a dog bite sustained during the arrest.
